Pate De’Verre is a special form of cast and fused glass sculpture. After making a clay form/shape, a mold is prepared to duplicate the shape later into glass. Crushed Glass or frit is then carefully packed into the mold and the mold cavity is often filled with sand. Once the mold is dried, the glass in the mold is then cast into a form by firing in a kiln for about 24 hours. The cast is broken and the glass form is pulled from the mold and cleaned, leaving you with an amazing form created from tiny particles of glass.
I have created many small canoes or vases using this process. They are striking and unique forms of glass sculpture.
